Sandakan CSR Project – Dewan Taman Cahaya
On Saturday 24 November 2018, Harrisons Sandakan Sport Club organized a visit to Dewan Taman Cahaya as part of our CSR initiatives. A total of 20 staff members participated in the event and 50 goodie bags were donated to the
members of the training centre. Dewan Taman Cahaya is a training centre for the blind and visually impaired community to provide necessary support, services and opportunities for them to achieve a better quality life. Established in 1972, it is the only training centre for the blind in Sabah, with total of 45 members.
During our visit, we were given a brief lesson on Braille, a tactile writing system used by people who are visually
impaired.
At the end of our visit, The Deputy President of the Sabah Society for the Blind, Mr. Peter Chong, expressed his gratitude for our visit and donations. He encouraged and urged the public to support the massage service provided by the members at Kim Fong Night Market, which is available on every Saturday.
